Anonymous, ca. 705-720, AE fals (3.60g), Iliya (Jerusalem), ND, A-179, 3 outer circles on obverse, 1 inner & 1 outer circle on reverse, nice strike, Very Fine, R. This coin was struck on a planchet that was most likely originally one part of an old copper coin cut into four sections. The large coin, probably Byzantine, may have been cut down at the Iliya mint, or earlier at one of the Byzantine mints for local production, as was common during the reign of Constans II, and then reused at the Arabic mint in Jerusalem.
