Such was the need for fighting knives during WW2 that the US government purchased almost the entire production of most American cutlery companies. The Pal Cutlery Co. of Plattsburgh, NY produced a sturdy 6" blade fighting knife known as the RH-36 that was widely carried by US troops overseas. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 PAL RH-36 PARKERIZED FIGHTING KNIFE is in good condition, with some sharpening to the blade edge, 4 deep chips in the middle blade edge, some light finish abrading and spot patina at each side of the blade, some patina and light loosening to the guard, some loosening to the pommel, a lanyard hole having been drilled through the pommel long ago, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 6 1/8" drop point saber ground blade that retains approximately 85% of the original parkerized finish, sports a crisp stacked leather washer handle with a red and black spacer at each end, and is stamped at the ricasso with its maker and model, "PAL RH-36". It boasts an elliptical steel guard and a cast aluminum pommel, and is complete with the original US WW2 PAL RH-36 Brown Leather Scabbard in good condition, with the handle retention strap having torn away long ago, a few missing stitches at the front and back left throat, and with some overall drying, darkening, scratching, crazing, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it bears the classic darkened metal rivets and whitish cotton stitching down the sides, and the set is a fine example of a rare, original US Army USMC Marine WW2 PAL RH-36 PARKERIZED FIGHTING KNIFE.
