    Description

    Such was the need for fighting knives during WW2 that many small cutlery companies began producing well made private purchase fighting knives for sale to US servicemen at base PXs. EG Waterman of Bleecker St, New York produced a sturdy 7" blade fighting knife that was widely carried by US troops overseas. This US Army USMC Marine WW2 EG WATERMAN EGW FIGHTING KNIFE is in excellent condition, with a bit of finish abrading and spot patina at the lower left side of the blade, some light finish abrading and spot patina at the lower right side of the blade, "Chuck From Joe" lightly etched at the ricasso, some light cleaning, scratching, and pitting at each side of the blade, some light brownish soiling at the lower right side of the handle, some light patina to the guard, pommel, tang, and securing ring, a bit of loosening to the pommel, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in excellent shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a gleaming 7 1/4" bright finished slight clip point blade with a choil in the lower edge, sports a crisp stacked leather washer handle, and is unmarked as to its maker. It boasts an elliptical metal guard and pommel, the latter showing the patented EGW exposed tang and metal securing ring, and is complete with the original US WW2 Brown Leather Scabbard in excellent condition, with a surface slit to the left handle retention strap, a few spots of darkening at the middle left front and back edge of the body, a small vertical line of darkening at the upper right front body, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in excellent shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it bears a fully functional "burst of glory" embossed darkened metal "glove" snap closure leather handle retention strap, carries the traditional metal rivets and whitish cotton stitching down the sides, and exhibits a fully intact integral belt hanger. The set is a beautiful example of a rare, original US Army USMC Marine WW2 EG WATERMAN EGW FIGHTING KNIFE.
