Description
For sale 1 Unmarked EGW Waterman World War II Fighting Utility Knife & Sheath.During WW2, the US military couldn't provide enough knives for all GI's, so many manufacturers provided commercial knives. The E.G. Waterman is one of those popular knives.
While this one is unmarked & lacks the distinct bottle opener cutout, it has many of the same features:
1) Identical silhouette.
2) Identical pommel & cross guard
3) Identical style of tang extending through pommel.
4) Identical washer handle style
5) Ring retainer for tang.
Overall length: 12". Blade length: 7 1/2". Crossguard & pommel have red paint. 3/4" Ring retains tang to pommel.
Comes with leather sheath marked with "HART" on face.
CONDITION: blade shows heavy polishing marks & sharpening w/ some light staining & patina. Blood groove shows is heavily polished to point of being a shallow trench. Red paint of metal is flaking w/ metal showing handling marks. Leather washer handle exhibits handling marks. Sheath exhibits noticeable handling wear w/ mildew & verdigris.
