    Description

*** THIS IS NOT A NORMAL SFF8087->4xSATA cable. This has MALE SATA connectors that will not connect to HDDs or SSDs. THIS IS MEANT SPECIFICALLY FOR HP Z800/Z820/Z840 workstation applications. DO NOT ORDER THIS CABLE UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS IS FOR ***
This is the 13-inch, longer version, of the HP 483508-001 cable, which has part number 483508-003.
Do you have a HP Z800 Z820 or Z840 workstation and you want to connect those 4 internal HDD bays to an add-on PCIe SAS controller? Then, this cable is the solution. You connect it to the 4x SATA lead cables coming from the 4x HDD cage, which converts those 4 connections into a single SFF8087 connection which can plug into many other SAS controllers like LSI MegaRAID SAS-2 cards.
You see, most SAS-2 controllers require a SFF-8087 connector. The Z800 Z820 Z840 drive cage backplane has SATA connectors that connect to the motherboard's SAS controller or SATA ports. This cable allows you to convert those SATA connectors to SFF-8087 in order to plug into your SAS-2 controller. This brings you SAS-2/SATA-III compatibility with up to 6Gbps speeds (think SSDs!!) as well as compatibility with 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, 10TB, 12TB HDDs!
