    Description

This is an period custom-made WWII knife and scabbard constructed from available materials available at the time onboard the USS Scribner, a Destroyer Escort Vessel, reportedly involved in UDT actions off Okinawa.
These knives are sometimes called 'theater knives' as they were made in a particular 'theater of operations' during war time. I acquired this one many years ago from a good friend of mine, the son of the sailor mentioned in the write-up I did at the time of acquisition (see images). He too was a veteran.
    According to Navy records:
    Francis Ray Landon
    Pacific Theater
    1944-1946
United States Navy, EM3c, Service Number 8651189, USS Scribner
The knife is ~12" in overall length.
The bulk of the knife may have come from a previously made factory knife, I simply do not know; I cannot confirm that either way.
It does come with the wood case as shown in the images.

I am not married to any of this stuff. Make an offer; if I can make it happen, I will. E-mail with any questions or if you need more images prior to bid/purchase (I have plenty). This item is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this sale without notice at any time prior to any binding offer to purchase from this venue. Thank you.
