    Description

NEAR MINT UTICA CUTLERY COMPANY (UC) 1942 M1905 BAYONET W/RARE DETROIT GASKET M3 SCABBARD.  Of the approximately 1,500,000 M1905 bayonets manufactured by six manufacturers for the U. S. military during  the 1942-43 period, Utica Cutlery only made 200,000.  Many of those were lost or damaged in combat and many were cut down from their original 16" blades to 10" blades when the U. S. switched to the 10" M1 bayonet in 1943.  Consequently, to find one like this in its original, near mint condition is rare indeed.  As shown by the photos, except for a tiny area near the tip of the blade where the finish is worn, this bayonet is pristine.  It is correctly stamped "U. C./U. (Flaming Bomb symbol) S./1942" showing it was made by Utica Cutlery in 1942.  And, a real bonus with this bayonet is it comes with a rare M3 scabbard made by the Detroit Gasket company (as shown by the sideways or "Lazy"  S stamped on the front of the throat.)  If you have any questions, please ask before buying, bidding, or making an offer.  Thanks.
