    Description

An original bayonet for the M1 Garand service rifle. This bayonet was made in 1943 by Pal Blade and Tool Co., (a kitchen cutlery firm), as a model1905 type 2, a 16 inch blade. Starting in 1944 these bayonets were recalled and altered to a 10 inch blade, becoming a  model 1905E1. This one was cut down to form a spear point. Bayonet has the markings of PAL and 1943 on obverse, reverse unmarked. With no markings related to alteration it may be that PAL did the alteration work.
Bayonet blade is a dark Parkerized  color with no nicks or scratches. Grips dark black and smooth in hand. Bayonet appears to be slightly curved, in relation of the handle to the blade. Button functions but operation a little stiff, may benefit from disassembly and cleaning. It will lock on and mount on a M1 rifle, I tested it on two rifles.
The scabbard is a 10 inch M7 model, produced starting mid 1943. Scabbard marked US M7 on throat, body nice OD paint. Looks to be almost unissued condition. Unknown marking stamped on both sides of scabbard body.
