    Description

-->  Cattaraugus 225Q Knife with Sheath Named to a Soldier in Alaska during the War
-->  This is a heavy duty Cattaraugus 225Q sheath knife made during WWII.  Please NOTE - the knife has a left handed sheath. There was a reason for this; frequently a soldier wore a pistol on the right side of their web belt, and the knife would just get in the way. Consequently, most of the 225Q Sheaths were left handed, to be worn on the other side.  This is a sturdy knife, with a blade length of 5 & 7/8 inches, and an overall length of 10 & 3/8 inches. The blade is marked "Cattaraugus 225Q" on the left side.  The "Q" stood for Quartermaster, and the knife was originally designed to open heavy wooden supply crates, though it wound up frequently being used in combat.
-->  The sheath is marked on the front with the soldier's name.  The name appears to be PABLO ????.  The Pablo is easy to read, but the last name is hard to make out.  The man's serial number was 38032133.  The back of the sheath is marked YUKON CD - 2nd Alaska.
